“My best memory in Costa Rica was the horse-back adventure ride I signed up for. My friend Roger and I are wannabe cowboys with some riding experience under our belts. We headed out to a tourist ranch a few miles from San Jose, saddled up, and went for it. It was a really wild ride – through narrow mountain paths, across vast fields, across rivers and streams, through jungle terrain. The view was unbelievable! Small waterfalls all along the trails… But the fun part was when crossing a very very shallow river, Roger’s horse decided he wanted to pull off a “roll”. After that he refused to move an inch. We were soaked to the skin, and figured we might as well have a little swim ourselves. About fifteen minutes later, our experienced guide got us and the horses out of the water, and on the trail again. In less than half an hour we were completely dry. Fun times!”
